Turner Plus 3 Desk
This is the Turner +3 desk microphone. It features a ceramic cartridge, and a preamp which is powered by a 9V battery in the base. This mic, besides having a pre-amp, also had a speech compression circuit which allowed the audio output level to remain fairly constant, even if you talked closer or further from the mike. This mike was very popular with the local group especially those who frequented the SSB mode. SSBer's generally preferred a more bassy or natural tone quality, over the somewhat tinny, bright sound of the Astatic D-104. The current mic pictured, came as part of an equipment horse trade and I use it now on my Icom IC-706.
