Here is a picture of my Maco 3 element beam antenna circa 1983. I had recently put up a 40' crank up tower and mounted this beam to it. Shortly afterward, I would find a good deal on a brand new Avanti Astro Beam, and it would replace this beam at the top of the tower for the next 6 years. While the tower certainly helped my signal over my previous 25' mast setup, I was still a victim of poor geography (I lived in somewhat of a valley), and was never really a "big gun", although I did well compared to others in the immediate area. Thanks to Art, from the KOMX Cosmic Studios, for having the forethought, or perhaps a few too many beers, to take pictures of things like this.
