This picture was taken in January 1978, after a relatively large (for my area) snowfall. You can see my Hustler Trumpet 5/8th wave antenna mounted in a not-so-straight position, and without the horizontal radials. This antenna had been recently put back up, rather hastily, after an earlier ice-storm took down my 3 element beam. No one wants to work on antennas in the middle of winter, especially with ice and snow on the roof, so I was rather quick and sloppy putting up the Trumpet just so I could get back on the air. And no, I wasn't being attacked by aliens, experiencing the northern lights, or a freak snowstorm. The sparkle "effects" had nothing to do with atmospheric or other world phenomena, and everything to do with using film that was way past its expiration date....
