This is the Lafayette HA-310. This unit was a 3 channel, 1.5 watt walkie-talkie. It featured a Volume, Squelch, a battery meter and a telescoping antenna. Its power was supplied by a set of 8 AA batteries, or through a convenient external power jack. Like the Realistic Rover 1500 and the Midland 13-700, this radio was popular with the local teenagers who were just starting out in the CB hobby. The higher power allowed range in excess of what typical 100 mW radios had, but was still small (and cheap) and portable enough to be carried around without feeling too awkward. When combined with an external base CB antenna, it worked almost as well as a regular CB radio.
At least 3 other kids owned a HA-310 during our initial growth period in 1974.
